Breathe, relax, release

Welcome to Helena Rose Reflexology. Complementary therapy for health, relaxation and renewal

Welcome!

My name is Helena. I am a qualified Reflexologist Level 3 Diploma (ITEC) 2022 and a practising Midwife, BSc (Hons) 2015 . I am a qualified Maternity Reflexologist, I enjoy supporting women in their pregnancy, helping them to prepare for their birth and supporting them post birth. I also offer a very relaxing head massage. I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists UK. I work from a lovely place in Grayshott on Mondays and Wednesdays Younique Beauty and on a Friday afternoon at Meadowside in Farnham.

I am a mother to a happy little boy who loves having reflexology. We both enjoy exploring the outdoors, finding a quiet spot to camp and I especially enjoy a sauna and a swim followed by a coffee.

For me reflexology is ‘me’ time, surrendering to my emotions, switching off and embracing the sensations that arise and feel during and after the treatment. I regularly see a wonderful therapist who always makes me feel welcome and calm. I always look forward to my time there, and come away feeling beautifully relaxed, this is what I hope to offer to my clients.

My Mum has always encouraged us to embrace therapies that make you feel good. She has seen a Reflexologist for over 30 years. Reflexology for me helps with easing anxiety, I feel extremely calm and held during a treatment. The release of oxytocin, endorphins can help you to deeply relax and let go. My son, who is 8 occasionally lets me work on his feet and I watch as he slowly relaxes letting go of stored emotions. The benefits are incredible, and I really encourage you to book in, reflexology is for all. It may help you to switch off or ease anxiety, help you move towards better sleep , or ease an existing health issue. It may be that little something that is just for you and you come away feeling light and floaty, or full of energy!

I see many clients for different reasons, relaxation, anxiety, grief, tension, problems with sleep, digestive issues, menstrual cycle issues, headaches , migraines, to improve circulation, to help ease fluid retention and pregnancy related conditions.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a wonderful complementary therapy that treats the feet and sometimes hands, with gentle massage and manipulation of reflex points. It is clinically proven to help decrease stress and anxiety. It allows you to relax and release, to let go of any tension or anxiety that you are holding onto in your body and mind. With the treatment I hope to help clear physical and emotional energies that have built up in the body and stopped your body’s systems from working effectively. It can support with an existing heath condition and allow you to relax and let go of any stress or worries that have built up.

In reflexology the feet and hands map out the body and internal organs and are linked to those organs by energy channels, zones or meridians. When illness, stress or trauma occurs in the body, the corresponding energy channels become blocked and Reflexology is applied to breakdown and clear these blockages, allowing the energy to flow freely again, restoring the body's natural balance and therefore good health. Using gentle pressure and manipulating pressure points helps me to find imbalances within systems in the body. Working these areas regularly can bring a sense of natural balance to the body and overall well-being. It is a lovely calming, relaxing treatment that supports and nurtures your body holistically.

The Benefits of Reflexology

My Approach

I like to provide my clients with an individual holistic treatment in a calm and safe space. It is a time for you to switch off from day to day tasks, to surrender to your emotions and to just be in that moment of calm which will have an impact on your well being going forward. I provide a safe non judgemental environment for my clients, a space to connect and let go.

How Reflexology Can Help

Reflexology does not claim to cure problems, it works to help the body to reach a sense of equilibrium a feeling of relief from painful ailments, finding your mood and sense of wellbeing improving, feeling energised with more vitality.

I offer reflexology to all ages and hope to provide a calm and relaxing environment for each client that I treat.

Reflexology for Health

I am passionate about women’s health and supporting women during their pregnancy, with my Maternity Reflexology I am hoping to offer support to all members of the family through the changes that happen along their journey; to promote a sense of calm and to encourage a natural rhythm again for the body, mind and soul to work in harmony with each other.

Maternity Reflexology

Supporting your pregnancy journey and beyond.

With my treatments I offer a dual-perspective approach to pregnancy and postnatal care. I am a qualified practising midwife and reflexologist.  I bridge the gap between clinical knowledge and holistic wellness, supporting you from early pregnancy through to your postnatal recovery.

Whether you are looking to ease pregnancy ailments like pelvic girdle pain and insomnia, or seeking postnatal support to rebalance your body after birth, my treatments are tailored to your specific needs. I can support you to relax and ground in a time that can feel quite busy and overwhelming.

What to Expect:

Your First Session

The first session begins with a thorough 75-minute initial consultation. This session is designed to be a safe space where we discuss:

Your Journey: Your current health, pregnancy symptoms, and any medical history.

Tailored Care: As a midwife, I use this time to ensure your treatment is perfectly aligned with your stage of pregnancy and individual needs.

The Treatment: You will remain fully clothed, simply removing your shoes and socks, wearing loose fitting trousers is best. You'll be settled into a comfortable, semi-reclined position—specially supported with pillows to avoid lying flat, ensuring optimal safety for you and your baby.

Gentle Pressure: Using precise, gentle pressure on specific reflex points, I work to balance your body's systems, supporting you to deeply relax and switch off.

Postnatal Reflexology: Healing and Restoring

The postnatal period is a time of immense physical and emotional change. Postnatal reflexology is a gentle, nurturing way to support your body with changes and figuring out your new path.

Benefits of these sessions include:

Emotional Space: This is an hour just for you—to process your birth experience, regain self-confidence, and deeply relax.

Hormonal Rebalancing: Helping to regulate fluctuations that can lead to you feeling unsure, mood swings, anxiety, over-whelmed and in need of a supportive hug.

Breastfeeding Support: By reducing stress and stimulating specific reflexes, reflexology can encourage milk production and help support you to relax during a demanding time.

Physical Recovery: Treatments help alleviate common postnatal discomforts, such as backache from feeding, pelvic pain, and fluid retention.

Restorative Sleep: Reflexology can improve the quality of the sleep you do get, helping you feel more energised.

Many women seek out reflexology in their final trimester to help prepare their bodies for birth.

Research suggests that regular reflexology can be a powerful tool in encouraging the natural onset of labour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is reflexology safe throughout all stages of pregnancy?

Yes. Reflexology is considered safe and non-invasive throughout all three trimesters when performed by a trained professional. As a midwife, I adapt every session to your specific stage of pregnancy, ensuring that only appropriate reflex points are stimulated.

Can reflexology cause a miscarriage?

There is no clinical evidence to suggest that reflexology can cause miscarriage. You can receive reflexology at any stage of your pregnancy. However, many women  prefer to wait until after their 12-week scan to begin treatments. I offer a highly personalised approach, tailoring the treatment to your specific trimester.

Can reflexology help with physical pain like SPD or Sciatica?

Absolutely. Many women find significant relief from Pelvic Girdle Pain (SPD), backache, and sciatica through targeted reflexology.

Where do the treatments take place?

I offer convenient mobile reflexology services, bringing all the comfort of a treatment right to your home, I am available on Mondays and Wednesdays at the lovely Younique Beauty in Grayshott and a Friday afternoon at Meadowside in Farnham.

Aftercare Advice

Following your treatment you may notice that you feel more tired; that some of your symptoms feel worse; or you need to go to the loo more often. These are all positive signs that your body is responding and balancing itself. In the nest 24- 48 hours please drink plenty of water to help flush out waste products from your body and improve your energy levels.

  • Relax and rest.
  • Avoid stimulants; tea coffee and alcohol.
  • Eat light and healthy balanced foods, nothing too heavy.
  • Make a note of any reactions you experience for your next appointment and I am always available for you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

You may also experience after a treatment a ‘Healing crisis”.

It is temporary, but if anything last for over 24-48 hours please seek medical advice if it is extreme.

It can occur immediately after a treatment, a few days and sometimes several weeks.

A healing crisis occurs when the body tries to eliminate toxins at a faster rate than they can be disposed of. This reaction signifies that the reflexology treatment is working and the body is going through the process of clearing toxins and balancing itself.

Everyone’s body is unique and may react in different ways but these are some common symptoms typical of a healing crisis.

  • Dizziness and light-headedness
  • Fatigue
  • Low-grade fever
  • Joint and muscle aches
  • Muscle cramps
  • Skin eruptions
  • Intense emotional states
  • Increased sweating, urination or defecation
  • Nausea and vomiting

NB: My professional code of conduct does not permit me to diagnose, prescribe or claim to cure. Reflexology works on an individual basis, and people can respond in different ways. It is hugely relaxing and I would encourage you to book to see if you enjoy and feel it’s benefit. Reflexology does have an accumulative effect therefore it is usually tailored to a clients needs.
